• November 27, 2005: Rockland christmas "Parade of Lights" As usual, Richard took photos .

• November 19, 2005: Ottawa Santa Claus parade As usual, Richard took photos. Jenn also took photos.

• 3nd annual HPVOoO Hallowe'en ride: Richard took pics .

• October 2nd pho: Pierre shows off his Grasshopper and Leonard Poole brings his folding 24" wheel bike

• Sept. 22: International Car-Free Day, featuring Just Voices and Mike Watson's new chopper.

• Sept 4th pho: Doug's birthday

• August 28th, 2005: Ottawa Pride parade Jenn took photos. Some photos by Pat Croteau were also found.

• August 20th and 21st: HPVOoO parade and HPV display, "Let's go to the Beach!" started at ARMPIT central (192 Cambridge Street North), then made our way onto the Western Parkway at Booth Street. The parkway was closed for Alcatel Sunday BikeDays. We headed out to the Ottawa Folk Festival at Britannia Park. A number of us volunteered with CfSC to help with bike parking. Richard Guy Briggs took photos on the Saturday and Sunday.

• Aug 14 Istanbouli: On his way there, Richard runs into 3 guys with a quad

• August 7th: regular HPVOoO meeting and Car-Free Day planning: Birgit from the City joined us with a large aerial photo along with Brett and Alayne representing cycling interests. Christian brought his newly acquired Catrike Speed.

• July 16th, 2005, 09:00-12:00: Parking Meter Party in the Byward Market, York Street between Sussex and William St. -- all it takes is a fist full of quarters and a bicycle....
  The plan:
  • Roll onto York Street in the morning when the parking spots aren't all yet taken, and park. One vehicle per spot as per regulations.
  • Feed the meter then park yourself in a lawn chair with a cooler, music, astroturf, carpet, whatever. Done "en-mass" we'll effectively (and very legally) transform a "place for cars" into a "place for people". We'll stick to posted time limits & rotate every two hours to a different spot!
  • We'll have lemonade, homemade treats and copies of the parking regulations for anyone who happens by!

• July 3rd: Westboro beach CfSC booth and Istanbouli: Richard spots an upright delta trike, a couple of beach cruisers and a 4-seat tandem. ...details of Grant's cruiser chain

• Mark, Vic, Jen, Jody, Charles and Richard had a good time celebrating Canada Day in Ottawa. The geese were a hit. We see Mike Watson's new CfSC bike/trailer combo for displays featuring "Charles brakes". Photos from Vic and Richard .

• June 26 ride: Mike rides a tallbike through city hall grounds

• June 11th: Ottawa Canada World Naked Bike Ride 9 people enjoyed Ottawa's first successful World Naked Bike Ride! The women were topless, most of the men had either thongs, briefs or no pants at all. More clothes were stripped as the ride progressed.

  Our group gathered for bodypainting and route planning in Confederation Park across from city hall. There was some media there who took photos and interviewed us.

  We rode by Parliament Hill twice. Took a group photo on the steps of the Supreme Court. Stopped for Gelato to battle the heat (it was 40 degrees with the Humidex!). Took a dip in the Ottawa River. 4 of us celebrated the end of the ride with beer and gazpacho at the WESTfest street festival.

  We covered over 13 kms in about 3 hours. We rang our bells, cheered and waved to onlookers as we passed. Most drivers and pedestrians smiled, cheered, honked their horns or waved back.

  There was not a police officer to be seen. We passed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police a couple times but they didn't bat an eye.

• June 4th: Joe Mamma's visit, Richard's winter bike is well past shark's teeth, Christian's chopper and mini-highwheeler (note the concentric crank and the amplified steering), a tricked up chopper...

• May 28 Solar Sprint and EV display: There were 2 electric assist 'bents (and Richard's un-assisted trike) on display. RGB took photos .

• May 15th, 2005, 10:00-14:00, Dulude Arena, 941 Clyde Ave.: The Recyclinik was put together by Cyclo Nord Sud of Montreal, an organization that collects unwanted bikes and parts and sends them to South America. The purpose of this event was to create awareness for their upcoming bike drive on May 23. Other groups involved included the re-Cycles Bicycle Co-op, HPVOoO, and Mountain Equipment Co-op. HPVOoO had folks trying out some of their odd and interesting bikes in the parking lot, while the "band with no name" provided music and the Garden Spot provided food. In the weeks before the event, bike art was created to show what can be done with old parts and bike bits. These were sold to raise money to cover costs involved with shipping the donated bikes. • 2005-04-03: "Returning the empties". Charles took photos . Richard took a few more after it was returned.

• March 12 2005, 11:00: We won another award, this time for Best of All Other Entries at The Irish Society St. Patrick Day Parade. At least 2 dozen people came and joined us on their weird human powered contraptions decked out in green. The parade started at Elgin/Laurier and finished at Lansdowne Park. Vic , Richard , Juergen , Charles and John Dowding took photos. Richard also took photos of some of the preparations. There is a mirror of the CBC radio interview here in OGG and MP3 formats.

• Juergen hosted Mike and Grant for a little ice-bikin' on a local rink. Mike brought chili and potato pancakes. Check out Mike's aggressive tire studding technique. Wonderful handling on totally slick ice. Juergen took photos .
